Summer, 2014 This past summer, Vince Capone of Black Laser Learning lead a group of summer interns on how to operate side scan sonar technology during a mapping project on the famous RJ Walker shipwreck. The students learned the art of advanced sonar image interpretation on the 1860 wreck, an iron-hulled, steam-powered U.S. Coastal Survey ship that had collided with another ship during a storm along the New Jersey coast, producing a commercial-worthy diagram of the wreck that divers were able to use in their field survey
