New Long Range SAS

SL Hydrosphere has fielded a new long range, high resolution Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) designed and manufactured by Applied Signal Technology (AST). The new SLH PS60 kHz system operated by Williamson & Associates produced this amazing image of a WWII aircraft while operating at the 1000m range. The target lies in over 300m of water and was imaged at approximately 450m from the tow body. The towfish altitude was approximately 110m above the bottom.

In August, Williamson examined the aircraft with an ROV and confirmed the aircraft’s location and type.
