Black Laser Learning is best known for it's advanced side scan sonar training tailored to the military mine hunting mission. These specialized sonar training services are only provided to United States and Allied navies.
The programs are designed to quickly familiarize new recruits with understanding how side scan sonar images are created as well as advanced target identification techniques. Advanced military side scan sonar programs are delivered at the client's location. U.S. military units can also purchase an advanced military version of the sonar interpretation DVD which includes specific sections on mine identification.
Military Side Scan Sonar Training
 Side scan sonar is a critical component to any navy's mine countermeasures program and for navy diving and salvage units whose tasks range from locating lost equipment to recovering drowning victims.
The Black Laser Learning® system is designed to take new recruits with little sonar experience, teach them the basic principles of side scan sonar and use those building blocks to develop advanced sonar interpretation techniques, including mine identification. This training method is so effective, units tested on target identification prior to and after training, scored statistically better after the training. Not only did the number of correctly acquired targets increase but false positives decreased.
At Black Laser Learning, we've developed custom on site training programs for all types of military units.And we also carry our own specialized training programs on DVD which include extensive use of 3D animations as well as hundreds of sonar images.
